A switch in Settings is grey

On newer phones Android greys out the small card over Google Maps for apps not installed from Google Play.

Android 15 and later grey out display over other apps (the small card over Google Maps) for an app that was installed from a downloaded file rather than from Google Play. The switch is there but will not move, and a line says the setting is restricted.

The simple way: install Taxista from Google Play. A Play install is never restricted.

If you already installed it another way:

  1. Open Settings › Apps › Taxista.
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right and choose Allow restricted settings. Confirm with your PIN or fingerprint.
  3. Go back to Taxista and allow the switch again.

The switch is optional. Without it a request waits inside Taxista until you open it.
